My laptop also has itunes. But the home computer is almost 7 years old. We think it runs so slowly b/c it has so much junk clogging up the hard drive. But it is possible it could have a virus that my parents don't know about. If I put the CDs onto my laptop, could it get infected with a virus?

My virus protection was malfunctioning for a short time yesterday, and during that time I got a virus. I believe I've gotten rid of it, but I'm now experiencing another problem, which I suspect is some sort of malware that got onto my computer at the same time as the other virus. Whenever I try to do a search (mainly just searches pertaining to the problem at hand, although some normal searches as well), any link that comes up redirects me to a site to buy things or page of fake search engine results. I'm not sure what's going on and I can't find out because whatever has installed itself on my computer or in my browser is hijacking my search results. I'm sure there's an answer out there, but I can't find it because I can't do a proper search. Any tips you can give me for how to eliminate this problem would be greatly appreciated. I use Firefox and XP Professional. Also, I have been receiving a lot of notifications from Nortons that an IP address in Luxembourg (212.117.174.176) is trying to attack my computer. I'm not sure if this has something to do with it or not. Thanks.

Are Online Virus Scan such as Housecall and OneCare Safety scanner just as effective to their Manual antivirus scan counterparts? Can you also give me some good Online Scanners? Thanks for the most informative answer! 10 points for the best!

i have a problem with my internal HDD. When this all happened, i was playing a game online. I got a Virus Worm and i shut down my computer and reformatted my HDD and put windows back on. I had a secondary HDD in for back-up purposes. so got windows in and put everything back, but i then noticed that my computers performance went down drastically with my main HDD, I could not copy anything i had onto the back-up drive and once i did it was so slow to copy the file. Once i had all the files on the back-up drive, i decided to start from the back-up drive with windows. Same applied. It was really slow with the reading-and-writing. i decided to take the secondary back-up drive out and boot from the main HDD. Everything seemed to be running smoothly i checked the main HDD Temperature with HD tune. The drives temp was 37 degrees Celsius, and the drive went to normal temperature of 43-44 degrees Celsius. I then decided to plug in the secondary HDD and leave it on for a day. the temperature went from 43-44 degrees to 47-48 degrees Celsius. So my guess is that the HDD drives are getting way to hot, and i am getting what seems like bad sectors in the drive, but it has never done this before. I have always had my back-up drive in ever since i got my main HDD. I can't place my finger on what is wrong with my drives. Once the main HDD is lower temperatures the drive seems to be performing better. but its normal temperature is 43-44 degrees Celsius and i still have some problems with reading and writing then. Can someone tell me what has happened please. I dont know if it was from the worm virus or if the temperatures are getting too hot (but has never done this before) can someone tell me what to do. I have changed the line leading into the motherboard as well, and that seems to have no effect. i even swapped the board lines between the CD drives and the HDD drives, no effect on that either. can someone tell me what is going on, i have ran out of options.

I recently got this virus, I am currently in Safemode with Networking, It wont let me start up any programs except online like enet and mozilla. Even when i try to install a new antivir program it wont start anything up. please help me..

Recently my computer has been popping up blue stop screens, it has something to do with thekernell memory dump or something, so I copied all my files onto my flash drive and now the flash drives has a file on it that is saved as "BOOTEX". When I open the file it says "Checking file system on E: The type of the file system is FAT. The volume is dirty." What does this mean? It wasn't there until I copied the files to it after the stop screens started. It also says my hard disk has a bad block. Is this a virus???

I have windows movie maker 2.6 and windows live movie maker although windows movie maker 2.6 is preferable as i find it easier to use! I was wondering if anyone knows how to rip videos off youtube (virus free) =) and put them into windows movie maker 2.6 and edit them and stuff. any help would be gratefully recieved! =) lol xxx

I have a virus on my computer & I'm trying to get it off so I have been trying 2 download my anti virus I previously had 1 but I deleted it 2 install the 1 I got but it didn't want 2 wrk so I left it alone 4 awhile I later went 2 my system restore & restored my laptop & then tried 2 dowload my antivirus but when I do it says I have 2 delete my previous 1 I had (the 1 I deleted b4 I restored it) so when I go 2 remove it it says it can't becuz the file no longer exists. I already know y it don't exist cuz I deleted it but can someone please help me & tell me how I can remove it 4rm my add/remove programs please I hav been trying 2 remove it but it won't let me what so ever. Please help me!!

okay so the other day this program SpyEraser popped up saying that i have a virus. but the problem is that i did not even downlaod this spyware and i dont know how to get rid of it! and it pops up like every minute. and ever since it first showed up, my computer has been running very slow! HELP!

I opened the MS Word 2007 and it opened for about 2 and a half seconds then just suddenly closes. I scanned the computer and have found some Trojan related viruses.(Ugh, another problem) I tried to get rid of it but can't. Now here's the main questions: how can I make the MS word work? and get rid of the trojan viruses? PLEASE HELP! :(
